After reading Adorno, he is incredibly specific on what he thinks about culture. He talks a lot about how culture is no longer a passed down ideology, but sadly now culture is considered whoever is the most persuasive among representative powers. I feel like Adorno is dead on with his assumption of this, not many people know what true culture is anymore. I find this to be extremely relevant with our presidential election currently taking place because of the amount of candidates we have currently running. Everybody is all mixed up on their culture today that's why we have such large splits among beliefs. No other election of any kind has ever had this many candidates running at the same time especially for the same parties for instance, the republican party. However, when reading Adorno, I couldn't help but think throughout the entire reading that they way he was describing culture and how he saw it today almost made it sound like a business in a way and if this is true I believe that this is inaccurate of today. Though I do believe lots of people have lost their true sense of culture, I do not believe that it has become the level of a business.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that Adorno’s perception of how culture is not is relatively accurate. Also, your connection with culture and the amount of presidential candidates was very interesting and definitely opened up my mind to this idea.
