Essay Topic

For my essay, I was thinking about the everyday concepts that are looked at in the film Office Space. Some of the things that I would focus on is this construct of a working cycle: labor, working, and wage. Even though this is more satire, it shows an interesting look at the breaking of this cycle and the attitudes behind the break.

Also, it was very interesting when they were discussing what the motivations were for working. When Peter is talking to the two consultants, he says that his motivation is not to make to company better or to get more money cause he doesn't get a bonus for more work done, it is that he doesn't want to talk to his boss and of you does a good job, his eight different bosses won't bitch at him. I thought that was fascinating and could be interesting to discuss in the essay.

Lastly, the use of hip hop and rap in the movie was perfect. With a plot that is about dry, boring work, the music made what could be considered normal, very exciting and interesting to watch e.g. destroying the copier. This could also be said in real life and how we use music to add feeling to the everyday and make things that may not be eventful like walking to class and make them memorable moments.
